Celtics vs. 76ers: Derrick White's Playing Status in Philly Wednesday

In this story:
The Philadelphia 76ers’ Wednesday night matchup against the Boston Celtics certainly won’t lack any juice due to key absences.
As expected, Celtics guard Derrick White will make his return to the court after missing Boston’s previous two games due to personal reasons.
This season, White has been a key contributor for the Celtics once again. Making appearances in Boston’s starting five for the first four games of the year, White has knocked down 65 percent of his field goals, averaging 16 points per game.
Along with his scoring, White has also dished out four assists per game while coming down with four rebounds per outing. He was a huge help for the Celtics, who went 4-0 to start the season while he was on the floor.
The Celtics managed to win without White against the Brooklyn Nets on November 4 but suffered their first loss just two nights ago against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In a matchup that required overtime to settle the score, the Timberwolves defeated the Celtics by five points.
White was upgraded to questionable for Wednesday’s game on Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning, he was once again upgraded to probable to play against the Sixers. Although he missed the team’s morning shootaround session, White has been cleared for action.
Wednesday’s game marks the first matchup between the Sixers and the Celtics this season. Last season, the Celtics found plenty of success against the Sixers during the regular season and the playoffs. During regular season matchups, Boston achieved a 3-1 record.
When the two teams met in the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, they needed seven games to settle the series. In Game 7, the Sixers fell way short, as Boston dominated the elimination matchup at home.
Fully healthy once again, the Sixers are out to put their new system under Nick Nurse to the test against one of their most competitive rival squads in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers and the Celtics are set to tip off at 7:00 PM ET.
