On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will get issued their biggest test of the 2023-2024 NBA season so far, as they are set to participate in a rematch of their second-round series during the previous playoff run.

The Boston Celtics are in town on Wednesday, coming off their first loss of the year. After riding a five-game win streak to open up the season, their trip to Minnesota didn’t go as desired.

Overtime was required for the Celtics and the Timberwolves, and the home team came out on top with a near-40-point performance from the former first-rounder out of Georgia, Anthony Edwards. After falling short 114-109 to the Timberwolves, the Celtics are now set to see the Sixers in action, who haven’t lost since the first game of the year.

Drama couldn’t shake the Sixers to start the season. After falling short to the Milwaukee Bucks in game one of 82, the Sixers went on a five-game win streak even while dealing with a blockbuster trade with three games down.

Deep rotation players who weren’t getting playing time before the trade stepped up and impressed. When the new acquisitions picked up some playing time of their own, they fit right in like a glove. Then, of course, the Sixers have a handful of notable players thriving, as Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, and Kelly Oubre have put together star-studded performances to lead the way.

Everything’s been squeaky clean for Philadelphia since their first loss. Wednesday’s game is far from a make-or-break matchup, considering how early it is in the year, but it’s a stiff test early on to either further boost the Sixers’ confidence or keep them grounded early on.
