Celtics vs. 76ers: Joel Embiid's Playing Status on Wednesday

In this story:
The Philadelphia 76ers will return to the court on Wednesday night to take on the Boston Celtics.
Heading into the game, both teams had some notable players on the injury report. For the Sixers, their injury was headlined by the starters Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris. The veterans Nic Batum and Kelly Oubre also remained on the injury report, as they both missed Tuesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers.
Batum and Oubre were ruled out early once again. As for Embiid, he was considered questionable for the second straight game. Following the Sixers’ win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night, Embiid started experiencing hip soreness. He was questionable on Tuesday and viewed as a game-time decision. Eventually, Embiid was cleared for action and turned in a full shift.
As for Tobias Harris, he suffered a setback during the team’s Tuesday night loss at home against the Pacers. As Harris entered the concussion protocol after another player landed on his head, Harris was cleared for action and returned to the floor.
While Harris was dealing with neck pain on Wednesday morning, he was listed as probable to play in Wednesday’s game.
During Nick Nurse’s pregame press conference, the head coach confirmed that Harris was upgraded to available. Although Embiid needed more time to workout to decide whether he would play or not, the Sixers officially upgraded him to available. On Boston’s side, the starters Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown were added to the report. Porzingis recently suffered a right knee contusion, which caused the Celtics to consider him questionable for the night.
As for Brown, he was later added as he dealt with a non-COVID illness on Wednesday morning. The young veteran big man Neemias Queta was also considered questionable as he manages a right foot injury.
Boston will roll shorthanded on Wednesday night, as both Porzingis and Brown have been ruled out.
