Former Sixer Dwight Howard Eyeing NBA Comeback

In this story:
Dwight Howard had his fun in Taiwan over the past season, but it could be time for the eight-time All-Star to make his way back to the NBA.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Howard is set to meet with the Golden State Warriors next week. The 2022 NBA Champions have been reportedly exploring the idea of signing a reserve veteran big man, which puts Howard on their radar.
The former Philadelphia 76ers center has made headlines over the past season despite not suiting up for an NBA team. When Howard was coming to realize that the offers weren’t loading up from NBA organizations, Howard took his talent to the T1 League, playing with the Taoyuan Leopards.
Throughout his run in Taiwan, Howard put up dominant stat lines, keeping NBA teams on notice. He also made a social media bit out of trying to recruit current NBA stars, including disgruntled Sixers guard James Harden.
While Howard seems content with his role in the T1 League, the former Sixer still seems eager to prove he’s got gas left in the tank at 37 years old.
Back in 2004, Howard was the first overall pick by the Orlando Magic. He dominated in Orlando for eight seasons before getting traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2012. After one season in LA, Howard went to the Houston Rockers for a three-season stint. Since then, he’s bounced around the league.
After runs with the Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards and a second go-round with the Lakers, Howard joined the 76ers for the 2020-2021 season. He appeared in 69 regular season games, averaging seven points and eight rebounds. During the 2021 playoffs, Howard came off the bench for the Sixers for 12 games.
Howard went back to the Lakers for a third stint in 2021-2022. After starting in 27 games and appearing in 60 total matchups, Howard entered free agency once again, but this time around, he didn’t garner enough interest to find another landing spot.
Perhaps the Warriors will bring him back to the NBA for another run.
