As the Philadelphia 76ers’ Wednesday night matchup against the Dallas Mavericks approaches, the team made a roster move by assigning the second-year guard Jaden Springer to the Sixers’ NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

Springer joins the G League squad after appearing in six of the Sixers’ last seven games. While Springer has been re-assigned to the Blue Coats on Wednesday morning, he isn’t expected to miss Philadelphia’s Wednesday night game against Dallas.

According to a team official, Springer was assigned to the Blue Coats so he could practice with the team during the day. The expectation is that Spinger returns to Philadelphia to suit up against the Mavericks. Whether that will result in playing time for Springer or not is unclear.

Lately, the young guard has received some garbage time minutes. In the team’s 25-point win over the Chicago Bulls last Wednesday, Springer picked up a three-minute shift in the fourth quarter.

When the Sixers threw in the towel for the matchups against the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, and the Denver Nuggets recently, Springer collected a total of ten minutes across those three matchups.

Springer will likely spend the night with the Sixers on Wednesday and return to the Blue Coats on Thursday morning. As Delaware has their first G League playoff game of the year on Thursday afternoon, Springer will likely join the Coats, as he’s been a critical piece to their regular season success.

This season, Springer appeared in 24 games for the Blue Coats. He’s averaged 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block. Thursday marks the start of the Blue Coats’ third-straight playoff run.
