JJ Redick Reacts to Throwback Sixers SI Cover on Twitter

In this story:
JJ Redick had the same reaction as many Sixers fans across Philadelphia when he saw a memory from four years ago pop up on his Twitter timeline on Saturday.
As the Twitter account Today in Sports tweeted out the cover of Sports Illustrated with Philly’s star-studded starting five, containing Redick, Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris, from four years ago, Redick reacted accordingly.

“The Sixers Are Finally All In.”
Unfortunately, they came up short of cashing out. The 2018-2019 Sixers finished third in the Eastern Conference standings with a 51-31 record. Snagging the third seed, the Sixers faced the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs, putting them away 4-1.
In the second round, the Sixers went toe-to-toe with the second-seeded Toronto Raptors, a team headlined by Kawhi Leonard. Many remember how that second-round series ended like it was yesterday, and apparently, Redick always remembers Game 4 of that series as well.
“That’s the game I always go back to,” Redick tweeted. “Kawhi was unreal in the fourth.”
Expectations were high for the Sixers that year. At the start of the season, Redick, Embiid, and Simmons were in the starting five. After two blockbuster trades before the deadline, Butler and Harris eventually joined them.
After the team fell short in the second round in heartbreak fashion, the roster changed. Butler picked up a sign-and-trade to land with the Miami Heat. Redick left in free agency, signing with the New Orleans Pelicans.
While Simmons stuck around for the next two years, he was traded last season to the Brooklyn Nets. Now, Embiid and Harris are the last ones left from the cover, and they’re still searching for the answers to get to the Eastern Conference Finals.
