Once again, Joel Embiid is putting together an impressive MVP campaign as the Philadelphia 76ers continue their quest for a title in 2023-2024.

From the start of the year, Embiid was dominating the competition on a nightly basis. Lately, he’s taken his game to another level.

Recently, Embiid has had an impressive string of games where he’s scored at least 30 points in each outing. After he put up just 20 points against the Boston Celtics in mid-November, Embiid fired up his recent streak with a 32-point showing against the Atlanta Hawks.

Since then, Embiid has appeared in ten of the Sixers’ next 13 games, and he’s thrived in the scoring department, putting on a stretch similar to one he had last season.

Amidst his first MVP season, Embiid put together a ten-game stretch, where he collected at least 30 points every time. When he achieved that mark, Embiid broke a franchise record.

On Friday night against the Detroit Pistons, Embiid tied his own record-breaking accomplishment by scoring 35 points in 29 minutes.

Saturday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets offered the big man an opportunity to break his own record. After getting some additional rest lately, Embiid was refreshed on the second leg of the back-to-back, and he couldn’t be stopped.

In under 30 minutes of action, Embiid successfully drilled 18 of his 23 field goals. By also going 6-6 from the free throw line, the big man not only collected another 30-point showing but exceeded 40 as well, scoring 42 points on 78 percent shooting.

For the first time in franchise history, the Sixers have seen a player score 30 points in 11 straight games. After Embiid scored 30 points in ten consecutive games last season, the streak was broken on March 22. Collecting just 16 minutes on the court, Embiid scored 12 points.

The streak was broken in a matchup against the Chicago Bulls. Ironically, the Bulls are next in line for the Sixers, as they are set to pay a visit to the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night. Historically, Embiid has had some impressive scoring outings against the Bulls. In 14 matchups, he’s averaged 28 points against Chicago.

While Embiid has had some uncharacteristically low-scoring outings against the Bulls in the past, he’s exceeded 30 points against them seven times. On Monday, he’ll look to make it eight to potentially keep the record alive.
