NBA Insider Claims Sixers Joel Embiid has Sights Set on Another Team

In the midst of the James Harden saga, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been a big topic of conversation. As he finds himself with another disgruntled star, some have begun wondering when the reigning MVP will start looking at other options. According to one NBA insider, that has already begun.

Over the past year, the New York Knicks have been a team that is reportedly keeping close tabs on Embiid. During a recent episode of FS1's First Things First, Chris Broussard stated there is talk around the league that Embiid wants to end up there.

"There is scuttlebutt in some corners of the league that Embiid wants to go to New York," Broussard said. "Now he's not going to come out and say it because he doesn't want that backlash from fans in Philly... There is scuttlebutt that he has his eye on New York."

It's worth noting that fellow insider and co-host Nick Wright immediately said this is something he hasn't heard.

Even in the midst of the Harden saga, Embiid has been committed to the Sixers. He wants to win and still feels he's in a position to do so in Philly. Embiid is one of the few loyal stars left in the NBA and is under contract through the 2026-27 season.

Embiid might be willing to ride things out, but the front office has to do right by him. As one of the top players in the league right now, the team needs to maximize their window of competing while he's at his apex. To do so, Daryl Morey and the front office need to remain focused on trading Harden for something that keeps them in a position of contention. If they are unable to do so, the Embiid chatter is only going to get louder moving forward.
