NBA News: Knicks Considering Reunion With Former 76er

In this story:
So far, the New York Knicks' trade for former Toronto Raptors wing OG Anunoby is proving to be a success. Now, New York is looking for their next swing in the trade market and could potentially bring in a former Philadelphia 76ers guard.
In search of another ball-handler, the Knicks have their eyes on several point guards across the league, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Per Scotto’s latest intel dump, the Knicks are doing their “due diligence” on guards such as Charlotte’s Terry Rozier, Portland’s Malcolm Brogdon, and Detroit Pistons’ Alec Burks.
While New York has also been linked to the All-Star guard Dejounte Murray out of Atlanta, the Knicks could view the three mentioned before him as secondary plays.
Burks’ name stands out of the pack because he’s played plenty of minutes in the Atlantic Division as of late. After spending a chunk of his career in the Western Conference, playing for several teams such as the Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings, and Golden State Warriors, Burks landed in the Eastern Conference with the 76ers during the 2019-2020 run.
Burks’ time with the Sixers was short-lived. He appeared in 18 regular season games before the NBA shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the Sixers returned to the NBA bubble for their playoff run, they lasted just four games against the Boston Celtics in the first round.
During the 2020 free agency period, Burks left the Sixers for the New York Knicks. He signed a one-year deal initially, then re-upped with a three-year contract the following summer. As a member of the Knicks, Burks appeared in 130 games. He averaged 12 points while knocking down 41 percent of his threes.
Over the 2022 offseason, Burks was moved to the Detroit Pistons. While he continues to play for the rebuilding franchise, he could soon be on his way out to join a contending squad. Perhaps the former Sixers’ sharpshooter will become a division rival once again.
