NBA Trade Deadline: What’s Tyrese Maxey Thinking This Season?

Not many players on the Philadelphia 76ers can say they haven’t been involved in trade rumors. While Joel Embiid might be the only player who hasn’t been seriously shopped during the season, everybody else has seen their names in rumors and hypothetical deals at some point.

That includes Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey.

The days of Maxey’s name being included in trade rumors might be behind him for now, but Maxey’s well aware of the league-wide discussions that happened over the last two years.

“I think my last two years, I was like heavy in trade conversations like each year,” said the young guard. “I’m kind of used to it now.”

Maxey might not be one of the several names being labeled as trade chips from Philadelphia this season, but either way, the former first-round pick is prepared to live with the results of whatever might come.

“I kind of know it's part of the business,” Maxey explained. “I remember, like, my rookie year, probably like ten games in, I saw a lot of the trade rumors, and all my friends texted me and doing different things like that. It’s part of the business. You just got to focus on the task at hand, which is winning basketball games.”

Have the Sixers been affected by the noise regarding the trade deadline as Thursday approaches? Nobody can say. But as the Sixers have lost three of their last five games, the team more than likely looks forward to getting some of the potential distractions out of the way as they look to climb out of their two-game skid on Friday against the New York Knicks.
