Philadelphia 76ers veteran forward Kelly Oubre was a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Saturday night.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Oubre was walking near his residence in Center City when he was struck. Shortly after, Oubre was rushed to the hospital.

The fortunate news is that Oubre is in stable condition, according to the team’s statement, which was released on Saturday night.

“Kelly Oubre Jr. was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle tonight in Center City, Philadelphia. He is currently in stable condition and is being treated at a local hospital.

We will share more information as it becomes available. Please join us in sending our best to Kelly and his family as he recovers from the incident.”

Oubre is expected to miss significant time due to the injuries he suffered, according to Wojnarowski’s report. After getting released from the hospital, Oubre will work closely with the Sixers’ medical staff on treatment and care for his setback.

The 27-year-old former first-round pick was in the midst of his first season as a member of the 76ers. After getting his career started with the Washington Wizards in 2015, Oubre spent three and a half seasons on the Wizards before landing with the Phoenix Suns for a season and a half.

Following his time in Phoenix, Oubre joined the Golden State Warriors for 55 games. In 2021, Oubre signed a two-year contract with the Charlotte Hornets. After spending the previous two seasons with the Hornets, Oubre hit the free agency market and eventually joined the 76ers on a one-year contract.

Oubre appeared in the Sixers’ first eight games of the season. Initially, he played as a key reserve for the team and was elevated to the starting lineup following the blockbuster trade that sent James Harden, PJ Tucker, and Filip Petrusev to the Los Angeles Clippers. Oubre started in the previous five games for the Sixers as Tucker’s replacement. Oubre will now focus on recovering from the injuries he suffered in the unfortunate incident.
