In a low-scoring battle between two Atlantic Division rivals, Philadelphia 76ers guard Kelly Oubre was involved in a dust-up with New York Knicks veteran, Donte DiVincenzo.

Late in the game, DiVincenzo attracted a sea of Sixers defenders when he had possession of the ball near the basket. 76ers veteran Nic Batum joined Oubre in swarming DiVincenzo. When Oubre’s play on the veteran knocks him down into Batum, the Knick retaliated after the whistle.

DiVincenzo wrapped up Oubre’s legs, tripping the Sixer up and sending him to the floor. An unfazed Oubre smiled it off before he slowly got up without worrying about what might happen next.

Meanwhile, DiVincenzo was getting pulled back by his teammates, and Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein was seen getting involved in the altercation and jawing at Philly’s center, Paul Reed, who looked to break things up as well.

When both teams were sent back to their benches, the officiating crew reviewed the action. Both teams had players hit with technical fouls. As expected, DiVincenzo landed one, along with Hartenstein. On the Sixers side, Reed was the one hit with a tech.

After the game, Oubre addressed the incident with the same mentality that he had on the court. 

“I ain’t got no enemies in this league,” he told reporters, according to the Inquirer’s Gina Mizell. “All of that stuff’s funny to me. I don’t know why. I just laugh because nobody’s gonna fight at the end of the day.”

Sure, there was shoving and some trash talk, but the dust-up was nothing out of the ordinary in the NBA, especially between two division rivals. 

A shorthanded Sixers team came out victorious against the Knicks on Monday. Although Oubre lacked efficiency on the offensive end of the court, he still scored 18 points in the low-scoring battle. He made it a double-double evening, collecting ten boards.

Oubre looks forward to sharing the floor with the Knicks once more on Tuesday night.

“I’ll see you Tuesday, bro,” he finished, referring to the incident.
