The Philadelphia 76ers made their first post-trade deadline move on Monday morning. As expected, the Sixers were active in the buyout market and landed themselves a backup big man in Dewayne Dedmon. With the Dedmon signing, the Sixers fill up their roster.

However, they might not have completed building their roster just yet. On Sunday, another potential prospect is on pace to hit the open market. The Orlando Magic, who traded for former Los Angeles Lakers veteran Patrick Beverley, decided they would not move forward with the defensive standout.

The Magic announced that they had waived Beverley officially. Soon, he’ll be free to sign with a contender that could use his services.

Lately, there have been rumors flying about Beverley potentially making a return to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In addition to Minnesota, Beverley was also linked to his other former franchise, the Los Angeles Clippers

Last season, Beverley started in 54 of 58 games with the Wolves, averaging nine points, four rebounds, and five assists in 25 minutes of action.

After parting ways with Minnesota and landing with the Utah Jazz, Beverley was soon flipped to the Los Angeles Lakers. This season, Beverley appeared in 45 games with the Lakers. He averaged six points, three rebounds, and three assists. From beyond the arc, Beverley hit on 35 percent of his shots.

Beverley taking up somebody’s spot on the Sixers’ roster might be a longshot. As he’s averaged over 20 minutes on the floor throughout his career, the Sixers might not have a significant role available for the combo guard. However, it’s necessary to point out that Beverley was linked to the Sixers as a potential trade target back in July.
