Sixers vs. Nets: Joel Embiid's Playing Status on Saturday

In this story:
For the last nine games, Joel Embiid was listed on the Philadelphia 76ers’ injury report as questionable. As the big man’s been dealing with foot soreness, he’s been on a day-to-day basis regarding his playing status.
Of the nine games he was questionable for, Embiid missed just one outing in Sacramento against the Kings. In the following eight games, he played. Friday night was no different. As the Sixers looked to take on the New York Knicks, Embiid was questionable for the matchup. Thirty minutes before tip-off, the Sixers cleared him for action.
Following Friday night’s Sixers win over the Knicks, Embiid was sitting at his locker still in uniform with his feet in an ice bucket, which has become routine for the big man throughout the year. After a 37-minute shift against the Knicks, Embiid was asked whether or not he would play in Philadelphia’s Saturday night game against the Brooklyn Nets since it was a back-to-back.
“I’ll see,” he responded. “Every game, I’ve been questionable. We’ll see how it feels.”
Embiid pointed to the fact that the Sixers have just a few games before they reach the All-Star break. Once they get there, Embiid will get some time off to rest up, which should help take some of the soreness away from his foot.
“I got three more games to go, so I’m just trying to get there and get a little break to make sure I give it some time,” he continued. “That’s what the doctor says. Over time it’s going to get better. The goal is to be ready for the second half of the season and the playoffs. That’s what I intend to do. Just take care of myself and make sure I’m in the best position possible to be able to succeed for the next couple of weeks.”
Embiid was questionable for Saturday’s game against the Nets.
To no surprise, he's been cleared for action. While Embiid looks forward to getting some rest soon, he won't take off on the second night of the back-to-back.
