Tobias Harris Thrilled to Start Season Under Nick Nurse

In this story:
This season could prove to be important for Tobias Harris' future in Philadelphia, as he enters the final year of his contract.
However the 31-year-old isn't letting this get in the way of his preparations for the upcoming season, which more than showed in his preseason performances.
Across the four games, Harris put up an average of 13 points, while also averaging seven rebounds per game.
While these numbers don't sound all that impressive, these are the heights that Harris rose to last season under Doc Rivers, scoring 14 points per game along with six rebounds, just going to show that he still has the ferocity to show up for the Sixers.
A part of this ferocity can be attributed to the ambition that Harris has in training, which he talked about in an article by The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey, with a lot of it boiling down to Nick Nurse's training plans.
“Every day we’re in the lab, working on different looks, different reads, different options,” explained Harris, “And I think this is probably the most excited I’ve been throughout my whole career of a team and a great situation."
The latter statement holds some weight to it when you consider that Harris has been in the league for 13 seasons at this point, playing under the likes of the aforementioned Rivers, Brett Brown, Stan Van Gundy, and Jacque Vaughn, to name a few, as well as on some impressive rosters.
On media day, Nurse mentioned that there could be competition for spots in the lineup, with that the 13-year-veteran soaked up the opportunities in the preseason.
"You know, know exactly the looks you are going to get, the type of actions, how we are going to play as a group, and I know there'll be more opportunities out there," said Harris, "for me, it's about taking advantage of them, being efficient, at the same time, embracing them."
Nurse also highlighted one area that he wants to see Harris improve on in the coming season, which is his offensive flair.
“I want him attacking the basket, and I want to make sure I get him a couple post-ups here and there out of some set pieces, things like that." explained Nurse, "He’s kind of got to make this a nightly thing, he needs to push [his shots] up toward 20 a game.”
If Harris is to get close to 20 attempts per game, it would be the first time since first wearing a Sixers jersey in the 2019-20 season, where he attempted an average of 16.3 shots per game, a career-high.
Harris, Nurse, and the rest of the team will start their season on Thursday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
