Tyrese Maxey Shares Heartfelt Moment With Mom Amid Latest Accolade

In this story:
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has kicked off the year in stellar fashion. Following three impressive outings, the rising star got some much-deserved league-wide recognition.
On Monday evening, it was announced that Maxey was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. He shares the honors with Nikola Jokic, who won it for the West. Among the players Maxey edged out was his teammate Joel Embiid.
After this news, many people rushed to social media to share their appreciation for his play. Among those to post about him was Maxey's mother. The two ended up having a heartfelt exchange in a series of posts.

A lot of people had Maxey circled as a player who could have a breakout season, and he is proving a lot of people right. With James Harden not in the lineup right now, he has shined as the No. 2 option next to Embiid.
Through three games, Maxey is averaging 30.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 6.3 APG. What's more impressive is he's doing this on 50% shooting from the field and 56% from beyond the arc on eight attempts per game. Another noteworthy stat from Maxey this week is that he committed just three turnovers in 116 minutes at point guard.
Maxey took a big step forward last year playing alongside Harden in the backcourt and continues to grow his game. Head coach Nick Nurse is putting him in positions to be successful, and the young guard is putting his talents on full display.
Embiid and other members of the Sixers have urged Maxey to be aggressive, and stats like these are a clear reason why. Based on how he's come out to open the year, this might not be the only time Maxey finds himself in the conversation for Player of the Week.
