Early on in the Philadelphia 76ers' opening night matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, things looked out of reach. The newly paired star duo of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo meshed well, and it resulted in a sizable lead.

Despite how things looked in the first two quarters, the Sixers managed to turn things around following halftime. They came back with a strong second-half surge that got them within striking distance. The matchup could have gone either way, but it was the Bucks who came away with a 118-117 win.

One of the many Sixers who helped turn things around Thursday night was Tyrese Maxey. He asserted himself early and ended up finishing the game with a team-high 31 points and eight assists.

After the game, Maxey was asked about the team's resiliency not only on the floor but off the court as well. He feels their never-give-in attitude stems from the experiences they've had over the last few years.

"We've been through some stuff, it is what it is. That's just a fact," Maxey said. "And the guys on this team that have been through those things are preaching resiliency, preaching never giving up, preaching always fight through that brick wall."

Even with their current circumstances, Maxey and the Sixers believe they have the talent to hang around with anyone. This is something Tobias Harris preached earlier in the week, and it was on full display Thursday against the Bucks.

"We know that we're always in it," Maxey continued. "We have the pieces to win games, we have the coaching staff, we have the team camaraderie. So that was big for us to be able to stay in it, to be able to stay aggressive and be able to withstand a huge run."

There were major questions about how the James Harden-less Sixers would look against a team like the Bucks. Following their impressive showing, they proved they are still talented enough to hang around with anyone.
