This season, Danny Green will be back in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform for the third time in his career, and two current members of the team are excited about it.

As midnight approached on Tuesday night, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Sixers had made another roster move during the offseason.

When Wojnarowski made it clear that the Sixers were bringing back Danny Green on a one-year deal, Sixers’ guard Tyrese Maxey took to Twitter to show his excitement.

Maxey wasn’t alone. On Instagram, 76ers forward Tobias Harris updated his story with the news that Green was headed to the Sixers once again. The starting veteran wanted to welcome Green back to the City of Brotherly Love.

Heading into last year’s offseason, the Sixers still employed Green with the original two-year deal they re-signed him on during the 2021 offseason. However, when the 2022 NBA Draft approached, the Sixers considered moving the veteran sharpshooter.

The Memphis Grizzlies came calling for Philadelphia’s late first-round pick. In order to trade for the selection slot, the Grizzlies took on the injured Danny Green as well. In exchange, the Sixers netted De’Anthony Melton.

Green’s run with the Grizzlies didn’t last very long. After months of rehab, he made his debut near the trade deadline. After three games with the Grizzlies, Green was moved to the Houston Rockets ahead of the trade deadline. Following a contract buyout in Houston, Green went ahead of found an opportunity to reunite with the team his NBA career started with, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Following a one-season run in Cleveland, Green will head back to the Sixers for another stint. During his 131 games in Philly, Green picked up 97 starts. During that run, he hit 41 percent of his field goals and knocked down 40 percent of his threes.

While Green probably won’t see such a significant role, starting for Philadelphia once again, he’ll be a valuable veteran presence for the team as they attempt to put together a championship-winning season.
