What Are the Odds Atlanta Hawks Hire Sixers’ Sam Cassell?

In this story:
The Atlanta Hawks are moving on from head coach Nate McMillan. While the move was expected to happen in the offseason barring a miraculous championship run, McMillan’s time was indeed running short in Atlanta.
With less than 30 games left in the season, the Hawks didn’t want to wait any longer. For the time being, the Hawks will name Joe Prunty as the interim head coach as they look into finding a long-term replacement for McMillan.
The Hawks have plenty of options out there to replace McMillan. And Doc Rivers and the Philadelphia 76ers could have a prospect or two that the Hawks could take a look at as a possible McMillan replacement.
What’re the odds one of Rivers’ top assistants, Sam Cassell, lands the job in Atlanta? Currently, he has the seventh-highest odds set at 10/1 (+1,000), according to BetOnline.
In front of Cassell is South Bay Lakers coach Miles Simon, San Antonio Spurs assistant Mitch Johnson, Sacramento Kings assistant Jordi Fernandez, Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, and former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder.
Each of the names mentioned above, excluding Cassell, are reportedly being considered by the Hawks at the moment. Cassell is the coach that hasn’t been linked to the Hawks just yet, with the highest odds of getting hired by Atlanta.
Over the last couple of years, Cassell received consideration from a handful of teams, notably the Washington Wizards. Although teams had interest, Cassell remains with Rivers through the head coach’s third season in Philadelphia.
While Cassell could get looked at by the Hawks as they search for their next leader, former Jazz head coach Quin Snyder is currently the favorite, with odds set at 2/1 (+200).
