The Milwaukee Bucks' much-maligned defense is set to get a needed boost with the return of "3-and-D" forward Jae Crowder to the lineup following a two-month absence due to an abdominal injury that required surgery.

The Bucks' defense has been a massive source of consternation for the team's faithful, as the team regularly surrenders almost 120 points to opponents in every game. If not for the Bucks' explosive offense led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the team's record would not be in such a favorable position.

Tough defender

The veteran forward has made a name for himself as a tough defender and reliable three-point shooter. And now, after several weeks of intense rehabilitation and training, he is finally ready to return to the court against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Crowder's presence will undoubtedly provide the Bucks' defense with more teeth. His size and ability to guard multiple positions will help alleviate some of the pressure on Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez to carry the defensive load.

Look to regain his rhythm

Due to the severe nature of his injury, Crowder will undoubtedly be placed on a minutes restriction. However, his mere presence on the bench, where his voice can be heard loud and clear, will give the Bucks another veteran who can dispense helpful advice to veterans and young guns alike.

Moreover, Jae's return will bode well for the Bucks' chemistry as they soldier on toward the NBA Playoffs.

"I think once everyone comes together and me coming back, using my voice, using my leadership where it needs to be, I think we'll get better. I think our trust will keep continuing to build. I just feel like I'm not too caught up in the now right now in that sense, but we do have some work to do, and I think that's where I'm focused on, to get us where we need to be to moving into the playoffs," Crowder said in a previous interview with The Athletic.
