In this story:

Jrue Holiday dribbled to the left at the top of the key, then issued a hand-off to Brook Lopez, who casually nailed a long three-pointer.

That play in the third period of the Milwaukee Bucks' 127-108 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night was special for Lopez as the bucket earned him his 15,000 career points.

Humble Brook

The milestone was even made more memorable after the Bucks ended up tallying their eighth straight win, with Brook finishing with a team-high 27 points.

The hand-off and the screen that Holiday provided for Lopez in that play practically sums up how the sweet-shooting center achieved such a milestone.

"I'm lucky that there are people that are out there trying to help me, trying to make me better and put me in that position," Lopez said.

More to go

The 7-foot center is now playing his 14th year in the league, and he does not see himself slowing down in the near future.

"I have a long way to still go, a long time to still play. I'm just enjoying it and I want to keep getting better, keep being an effective player out there, being the best player I could be," said Lopez.

Now, owner of 15,007 career points, Lopez joined the Bucks in 2018 after stops with the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The towering big man has been a significant factor in the Bucks stellar showing in the current season. Lopez is averaging 14.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game for the season.

Lopez has been anchoring the Bucks' defense this season as he is second in the entire league in the blocks category, trailing Brooklyn's Nic Claxton, who is averaging 2.6 blocks a game.

Winning the DPOY award is not out of reach for the Bucks big man, as this has been one of the best seasons of his career.
