No other player should wear number 11 in the Brooklyn Nets organization, Jrue Holiday suggests.

Jersey retirement should be bestowed upon Brook Lopez. This was the suggestion of Jrue Holiday, the heady playmaker of the Milwaukee Bucks, to the Brooklyn Nets organization as he heaped praises on his sweet-shooting teammate for recently achieving a career milestone.

Jrue speaks up for his big man

Holiday was reacting to the memorable outing of Lopez on Monday night that saw the sweet-shooting center earn his 15,000 career points in leading the Bucks to a 127-108 road win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 7-foot center scored a team-high 27 points, a production that made him just the 148th player in the NBA to reach 15,000 career points.

Holiday’s suggestion to the Nets certainly makes a lot of sense. Lopez indeed made a mark in his nine-year stint with the Nets, where he put up the most career points for the franchise with 10,444 points.

“Leading scorer in Nets history…he’s got 15,000 points now. I’m telling you, they might need to retire that jersey over there in the Nets organization,” said Holiday.

Great all-around career

After the Nets, Lopez had a short one-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers before moving to the Bucks, where he has blossomed to become one of the team’s key cogs.

The 14-year veteran has helped the Bucks surge to a solid 37-17 start with averages of 14.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 2.4 blocks.

More importantly, Lopez’s veteran leadership has given the Bucks so much success halfway through the season.

“We kind of learned from Brook. He’s been doing it the longest,” Holiday added.

With what he has done during his stint with the Nets and with the big man’s overall success in his career, giving jersey retirement honors is a no-brainer, Holiday insisted.

“11 gone now, you know what I mean? It makes sense,” Holiday said.
