The longest winning streak in Milwaukee Bucks’ franchise history

In this story:
The Milwaukee Bucks are the hottest team in the NBA right now by virtue of an eight-game winning streak.
The successive victories have allowed the Bucks to occupy the number one spot in the Central Division with a 37-17 record. They are also just one and a half games behind the Eastern Conference leaders Boston Celtics, who are 39-16.
Racking up winning streaks is something not new to the Bucks. In fact, the franchise co-owns the fifth-longest winning streak in league history.
Old-school
Milwaukee's longest winning streak in franchise history happened in the 1970-71 season when they put up 20 successive wins.
Powered by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson, the Bucks were such a dominant team that season, as they won the whole thing and ultimately hoisted the franchise's first-ever championship trophy. In that streak, the Bucks went undefeated for more than a month.
The streak started on February 6, 1971, when the Bucks defeated the San Francisco Warriors, 111-105. And the streak ended on March 9 when the Bucks suffered a hard-fought 110-103 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bulls.
Who is above?
The other team to rack up 20 straight wins was the Washington Capitols, who did it twice in the 1947-48 and 1948-49 seasons.
On the top are the opponents of the Bucks tonight, as the Los Angeles Lakers own the longest winning streak in league history with 33 straight wins. Coincidentally, the Bucks were the team to end that historic win streak.
With the stiff competition and the way teams employ load management on their stars, long winning streaks are hard to come by nowadays.
Does the current Bucks squad stand a chance to match or even just come close to replicating the feat made by their counterparts in the 1971 season? It may be a long shot, but as they say, anything is possible.
