In this story:

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s love for professional wrestling is well-known. He’s talked about the idea of becoming a professional wrestler, appeared on shows by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and has met the likes of wrestling legend Chris Jericho and wrestling icon The Rock. However, the most memorable moment for Giannis fans must be when he dared to call out Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock,” on Twitter in 2019.

Said he could lift more than The Rock

It started with Giannis and teammate Pat Connaughton doing a bit of trash talk on Twitter, saying that they could lift more weight than The Rock. Unsurprisingly, this caught the attention of The Rock himself, and he replied to the tweet with his trademark enthusiasm and positivity.

However, the Greek Freak took it a step further when, in a different interview, he said he’d “kill” The Rock in a wrestling match. Obviously, this did not go too well with the “Great One” who responded:

All fun and games

Of course, in true WWE fashion, the back-and-forth banter was nothing but a friendly exchange between two well-known athletes. Both Giannis and The Rock showed great respect for one another, and it was clear that there was no real animosity between them. Ultimately, it just goes to show that even though their paths in life may have been different, there’s still incredible mutual respect between them.
