Alex Caruso, the Chicago Bulls’ defensive stud, is one of the NBA’s most sought-after players. While his stats may not pop off the page, his ability to disrupt opposing offenses and create havoc has been a major asset for the Bulls.

Unfortunately, it seems his services won’t be available to any teams looking to acquire him anytime soon. According to an NBA insider, Caruso is off-limits in trade talks as of now, as it appears the veteran guard is part of the franchise’s future plans.

Hot name on the market

Caruso is averaging 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game this season for a Bulls squad that has looked better in the last four games. While Alex's defense remains elite, it’s his three-point shooting that has taken a massive leap as the former Texas A&M star is shooting a scintillating 46 percent from beyond the arc.

This has made him more enticing for teams looking for that player who can take them over the top. However, the Bulls have rebuffed all trade offers for Caruso as they view him as a valuable contributor.

“A bevy of teams has been expressing interest in trading for Bulls utility star Alex Caruso, league sources say, but the franchise has shut down those calls,” Shams Charania wrote in The Athletic.

Do-it-all guy

A player of Caruso’s ilk does not come often in the NBA, and one can understand why the Bulls are keen on keeping him around. The 6-foot-5 veteran is a do-it-all kind of player who can guard multiple positions, spread the floor with his outside shooting, make plays for his teammates, and switch screens with nimble efficiency.

He has also shown an ability to play off the ball when need be. All these skills mesh to create a player that the Bulls rely heavily upon to make winning plays time and again. While it’s uncertain whether the Bulls will change their stance down the line, it appears that Caruso won’t be on the move anytime soon.

A high-ranking Bulls executive had this to say about Caruso’s trade prospects: “It’s a gradually developing trade market this year.”
