Chicago Bulls' trampoline dunkers were the best part of the All-Star Game, said Anthony Davis

In this story:
You know the All-Star Game is messed up when an All-Star admits the most memorable part of the game was the performance of the trampoline dunkers. This was the actual assessment of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis who gave props to the Chicago Bulls trampoline dunkers for putting on quite the show.
No Bull in sight
The 2024 edition of the All-Star Game in Indianapolis did not have a single Chicago Bull in it. The team’s best chances of getting a player in were veteran wingman DeMar DeRozan and rising star Coby White, but both were snubbed in favor of other players. However, the Bulls were still well represented with their trampoline dunkers who stole the spotlight with their daring aerial displays and gravity-defying slam dunks.
“I think the best [moment], we were talking about it, was the Bulls and the Pacers dunkers,” Davis said.
“With the trampoline? They were very, very impressive.”

Another All-star dud
NBA officials, led by commissioner Adam Silver, were keen on not getting a repeat of last year’s lackadaisical All-Star Game wherein defense was virtually nonexistent and offense reigned supreme. However, despite the changes made to the game format, critics still labeled this year’s All-Star Game as a dud.
The East-West showdown saw the Eastern Conference dominate from start to finish, ultimately winning 211-186. The Eastern Conference’s point total marked the first time a team scored over 200 points in any NBA game.
Many were disappointed with the lack of competitiveness and intensity throughout the game, with players seeming content to just go through the motions and put on a show for fans. This was evident in numerous uncontested dunks and shots from halfcourt.
The disappointment was evident on Silver’s face in the postgame awarding ceremony.

It remains to be seen what changes will be made to the All-Star Game format in the future, but one thing is clear: this year’s game was not a success.
