Hawks receive permission to interview Blazers' Tibbetts

Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach Nate Tibbetts is high on the Atlanta Hawks' list of potential coaching hires, according to ESPN.

The Hawks parted ways with Mike Budenholzer after five seasons Wednesday, and per ESPN, have received permission from the Blazers to meet with Tibbetts, who has last a head coach in the G League (2009-11).

Tibbetts was an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers under Byron Scott from 2011-13. He has been working with the Blazers under coach Terry Stotts since.

Tibbetts compiled a 64-41 in his two seasons with the Tulsa 66ers of the G League.

The Hawks are also said to be interested in David Vanterpool, another Blazers assistant, as well as Charlotte Hornets assistant Stephen Silas and San Antonio Spurs assistants Ime Udoka and James Borrego.
