Cavs' Love talks of being 'target' at team meeting

Neither KevinLove nor LeBronJames wanted to go in-depth about a reportedly fiery team meeting that took place prior to the Cleveland Cavaliers' Monday practice.

"I felt like we should keep it on the court or in the locker room, but obviously it didn’t stay there," Love said. "I'm going to keep my mouth shut, do right by the organization, by the fans and try to help this team win."

Love was at the center of some ire from teammates -- who questioned his commitment after after he exited Saturday's blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder with an illness, according a report from ESPN. Love also missed Monday's practice.

The Cavaliers are in San Antonio to face the Spurs on Tuesday and according to The Associated Press, Love was the first player off the bus and walked onto the court alone.

"Did I feel like a target? I think everybody, most people, were a target," Love said of the team meeting from Tuesday's shootaround. "We’re trying to figure this thing out. People hold themselves to a very high standard on this team and we’re a team that can compete at the highest level."

Meanwhile, James refused to address the meeting. "I don't want to talk about it," he said repeatedly.

The Cavs (27-18) have lost 10 of 14 and have looked awful at times while doing it.

General manager Koby Altman has been active ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline, looking for a trade that could help rebuild the chemistry and on-court productivity.

In the meantime, perhaps pow wows such as the one held Monday will help push the Cavs forward.

"That’s what we hope," Love said. "Even if it’s directed at me or directed at anybody else, you just hope that it helps and that we can get better from it. ... Maybe yesterday was a really good thing for us, you never know."
