Is The Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers Narrative Changing?

In this story:

Ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the New York Knicks in last year's playoffs, the narrative surrounding Donovan Mitchell has been when Cleveland will trade him to a bigger market.

That was the story of the offseason, and it got even louder when the team announced the injuries to Darius Garland and Evan Mobley in the middle of December. However, it seems that the narrative may be shifting to a more hopeful outlook for Cavs fans.

Let's start here. A lot of the recent talk regarding Mitchell's future comes after an Eastern Conference executive reportedly said that the All-Star guard is "definitely leaving" Cleveland when his contract is up. But let's not so quickly forget that just a few weeks back, another NBA executive said that they believe Mitchell will end up re-signing with the Cavaliers.

Mitchell has said on multiple occasions, most recently last Wednesday, that the most important thing for him is winning. That's something that Cleveland has seen a lot of lately, as they've won 18 of their last 20 games and sit second in the Eastern Conference.

This is the type of success that a player would surely be happy with, including Mitchell. In fact, he all but admitted this, according to a recent report.

Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com recently said on the Wine & Gold Talk Podcast that Mitchell was reacting to the Knicks' Quentin Grimes trade and said to himself softly, "Everything happens for a reason. I'm happy as hell where I'm at."

Mitchell rarely talks about his future. He's always been focused on the here and now and what he can to help his current team win. Based on what he said, Mitchell is happy to be a Cavalier, unlike some national media reports lead people to believe.
