On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics picked up a 136-86 victory against the Brooklyn Nets. The 50-point blow-out marks Joe Mazzulla’s 100th win as a head coach in the NBA.

The Johnston, Rhode Island native became head coach of the Celtics right before media and training camp started ahead of the 2022-2023 season. Over the last 70 years, only three NBA bench bosses have reached the centennial mark at a faster pace. Those individuals are Steve Kerr, Tom Thibodeau, and Avery Johnson.

After Boston's win over the Nets in their last game before the All-Star break, Mazzulla shared his perspective on his milestone accomplishment.

"I think it's something to be proud of... it's just a testament to the people you have around you… To have a group of people that you can share your success with is important."

Mazzulla also expressed his appreciation towards the Celtics roster.

“I always tell them, I can’t be who I am if they don’t let me. I appreciate that. It’s a gift in coaching. You can always be in a situation where you don’t have empowerment, or you don’t have guys that allow you to be yourself. It’s an important gift that the players give me, and they give it to each other.”

Based on a minimum of 100 wins, Mazzulla, at .730, is the NBA’s all-time winningest head coach. The top five also features Phil Jackson, Billy Cunningham, Larry Bird, and KC Jones.
