Exclusive Photos of Jaylen Brown On Set Making Acting Debut With Donnie Wahlberg

In this story:
Jaylen Brown is fresh off a 43 point night to help the Boston Celtics drop the Miami Heat and help the Celtics tighten their hold on the second seed in the Eastern Conference. It was his seventh game with 40 or more points, including one 50-point game against the Clippers to start 2026. His 34 games of 30 or more points is the fifth-most in Celtics history, and he’s three away from catching Larry Bird for fourth.
This has been Brown’s best season as a pro, and he’s said a few times this season that it has been the most fun he’s had. The combination of proving doubters wrong, a favorite pastime for him, and figuring out how to win as the leader of a new group of guys, has had Brown in great spirits throughout the season.
“I think this has been my favorite season so far, being able to get an opportunity to lead a group,” Brown said earlier in the year. “Some of us, we have some championship experience, but we have five or six new guys who haven't really played NBA basketball. And now we look like one of the better teams in the league. And that's just credit to our coaching staff and credit to our leadership that we've been able to get those guys comfortable. And we're playing some good basketball.”
And it’s a noticeable shift in Brown, who has also taken to live streaming this season. He will go live one or twice a week, breaking down game film or just speaking his mind about random topics, serious or otherwise. He has called it a chance to control his own narrative, even if it’s a departure from what we’ve known about him.
"Very different for me. That's something that I've always not been super comfortable with,” Brown said earlier this season. “It's a vulnerable transition for me to kind of let people into my life and my role from the outside looking in. It's a new era. I feel like in my personal life, things are changing. I'm just gradually accepting it and just being able to show you guys who I am, what I'm about and what I'm doing on a day-to-day basis. I feel like people can benefit from it, so I don't mind."
Maybe he can count it as practice being comfortable in front of a camera for an acting career. Brown is making his acting debut tomorrow on the CBS series “Boston Blue,” a spinoff from the series “Blue Bloods,” which was about a family in New York law enforcement. It stars notable Bostonian and Celtics fan Donnie Wahlberg as former New York cop Danny Reagan. Which sets up this preview clip of Brown’s appearance, where he plays himself at the BPD office.
In these exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the set, Brown and Wahlberg can be seen having some fun with one another as Brown makes his cameo.

Wahlberg is at a fair amount of Celtics games for a Hollywood star, most recently having a fun moment with some fellow members of New Kids on the Block when they made the jumbotron.
Maybe this is the beginning of a burgeoning acting career for Brown. With Wahlberg in his corner, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brown get into a few more projects if he wants.
The episode of Boston Blue airs tomorrow night, Friday April 3, at 10 p.m. So either the Celtics game in Milwaukee will be a blowout and you can switch over, or set your DVR to watch him after the game ends.
