In this story:

The Boston Celtics got off to a scorching hot start to begin the 2023-24 campaign, including a 155-104 dismantling of the Indiana Pacers, their third-largest margin of victory since 2000, and a game where they generated the second-most points in franchise history.

But they've since cooled off, suffering two straight losses. First, it was a 114-109 defeat in an overtime tilt with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wednesday, they fell 106-103 to the Philadelphia 76ers, who knocked Boston off its perch atop the Eastern Conference standings.

Now, after playing two straight on the road, the Celtics, tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for second in the East at this early juncture, return home to host the Brooklyn Nets. The game also represents Boston's first of the NBA's inaugural in-season tournament.

Kristaps Porzingis, who registered 29 points in the City of Brotherly Love Wednesday night, leading all scorers, recently expressed of the league's efforts to spice up the regular season, "I think it's been presented really well here in the NBA," adding, "I think it's going to be a huge success and I look forward to hopefully winning it."

The Celtics will also break out their newest city edition uniforms and custom-designed court for Friday's in-season tournament matchup.

And as the C's aim to start the Association's newest construct off on the right foot, it helps that their injury report only features center Neemias Queta.

Unfortunately, the 24-year-old from Portugal will miss his sixth-straight game due to right foot injury management.

That includes missing last Saturday's matchup between Boston and Brooklyn at Barclays Center. The visitors earned a 124-114 victory, and Jayson Tatum became the youngest player in franchise history to score 10,000 career points, a milestone he discussed afterward.

Friday night's rematch will tip-off at 7:30 EST at TD Garden. Inside The Celtics will have content related to the matchup before, during, and afterward. Follow @BobbyKrivitsky on Twitter for updates and analysis from pregame to post.
