The NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament commences on Nov. 3. The Boston Celtics are in East Group C with the Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, and Orlando Magic.

Per Inside The Celtics, Kristaps Porzingis is familiar with in-season tournaments and loves that the concept is being introduced in the NBA.

“I love it. In Europe, we always have some sort of tournament in preseason or during the year. When I was growing up, I enjoyed those types of tournaments… I think it’s been presented really well here in the NBA... I believe that it’s going to be a great success, although I know a lot of people are a little bit skeptical.”

The Latvia native also expressed that his team is taking the competition seriously.

“Of course, we want to win it. We want to win everything. Why not be the first in-season tournament champions?”

Porzingis is expected to play a key role in Boston’s campaign for the NBA Cup. This season, the 7-foot-2 forward is averaging 18.8 points and 7.3 rebounds over 29.8 minutes.

The Celtics’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 4, against the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. It is not classified as a tournament match.
