The Boston Celtics are aiming to re-sign Jaylen Brown, as his current deal expires at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Brown is eligible for a supermax extension worth $295 million over five years. As reported by Brian Robb and Souichi Terada of MassLive, Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens, is hopeful that negotiations between the two parties will be successful.

“I can’t really talk about it but it’s been all good discussion,” Stevens said. “We want Jaylen to be here for a long, long time, and we’ve made that clear. We’re looking forward to all sitting down and we have time here. I probably shouldn’t say anything else, but I feel optimistic.”

Brown averaged a career-best 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last season. The Georgia native also earned All-NBA Second Team honors.

The Celtics’ key transactions during the offseason include the acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis and the departure of Grant Williams and Marcus Smart.
