The 2022-2023 regular season was monumental for Jayson Tatum. The Celtics forward, with a total of 2,225, led the NBA in total points.

Tatum’s career-high 30.1 per game resulted in numerous Boston Celtics franchise records being broken.

The St. Louis native became the first player in Celtics history to average 30 or more points per game. The previous single-season record was held by Larry Bird, who averaged 29.9 points in 1988.

Tatum also surpassed Bird’s record for most 30-point games in a season. That record stood for 35 years.

Unlike Bird, Tatum is in pursuit of his first NBA championship. The Celtics will meet either the Miami Heat or Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs.
