It is not uncommon for teams who win the NBA Championship to give rings to players who were traded to another team earlier in the season. According to Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley, both he and Russell Westbrook would like that to be the case for them if the Lakers win the title this season.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Beverley said Westbrook told him he wants a ring if the Lakers win it all. Beverley agreed that he would also want a ring if the Lakers were to win the title this season.

Westbrook played 52 games for the Lakers this season before being traded to the Utah Jazz, and Beverley played 45 games for the Lakers before being traded to the Orlando Magic. Both players reached buy-out agreements with their new teams, as Westbrook joined the LA Clippers, and Beverley joined the Chicago Bulls.

In 52 games with the Lakers, Westbrook averaged 15.9 PPG, 7.5 APG, and 6.2 RPG. Accepting a bench role, Westbrook was in the 6th Man of the Year conversation before joining the Clippers and observing their starting point guard role.

In his 45 games with the Lakers, Beverley averaged 6.4 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 2.6 APG. Beverley started in all 45 games he played with the Lakers, and was often tasked with some of the tougher defensive assignments. According to him, both he and Westbrook want rings if the Lakers win it all this season.
