Former NBA Star Blasts Draymond Green

In this story:
During last week’s matchup between the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green took an inadvertent elbow from Ivica Zubac that sent him back to the locker room. Green was eventually able to return to the game, but did spend quite a bit of time on the floor.
During a recent episode of Gil’s Arena, former NBA star Kenyon Martin blasted Green for this situation, saying, “He was trying to sell the sh-t. That sh-t didn’t hurt. You can’t lay out there when you’re out here choking motherf—kers… They did three trips [up the court] and you still laying down.”
"If a motherf**ka punch you, it's a wrap! That's what you tellin' me! Hell no! Hell no! F**ck no, Gilbert!"

Martin continued, saying he expects Green to retaliate - rather than lay on the ground, if someone swings an elbow at him. While Martin seemed to acknowledge that Zubac didn’t intentionally hit Green, he still detailed a scenario in which he would expect Green to retaliate, regardless of his recent suspensions.
Martin missed the mark on both points here, because while Zubac didn’t mean to hit Green, even an inadvertent elbow can really shake up a player on the receiving end. Additionally, encouraging retaliation from Green, even in a more hostile situation than this one, ignores the impact it would have on his team.
Having already been suspended twice this season, Green has worked hard to get back on the court - and stay on the court for his teammates. Doing anything to risk another suspension, which would likely be even longer than the previous two, wouldn’t be a smart move for Green. This is something he understands, and his behavior has mostly reflected that since returning from his most recent suspension.
