The LA Clippers included newly acquired forward KJ Martin in their trade package for James Harden, sending the athletic wing to the Philadelphia 76ers after just three games. During a live segment of Gil's Arena, Martin's father Kenyon Martin Sr. shared his emotional reaction to the trade.

"Having to break this news to the little ones that are excited when KJ comes by. It’s that that people don’t understand," Martin said.

This side of the business can be hard for fans to comprehend, because while they just see a player being sent to a new team, it's the family dynamic that is always hard. For Martin, playing for the Clippers was a chance to be around family more often. While the 76ers could end up being a better basketball fit for him, that side of things is always hard at first.

As Kenyon Martin Sr. mentioned, he is excited for his son to get an opportunity to play more than he was playing in his first few games with the Clippers. With LA having so many veteran players in front of him on the depth chart, KJ was headed for a limited role this season. While it's unclear how much bigger that role will be in Philadelphia, or if the 76ers plan to send him somewhere else, it's likely this move will be good for KJ from a basketball standpoint.
