Grizzlies Reveal How Ja Morant Suffered Face Injury

In this story:
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant unexpectedly popped up on the injury report for Friday night's game against the Denver Nuggets, but he was still listed as available. The injury report said that Morant had suffered a nasal fracture that would require him to wear a mask; however, he was still listed as available.
Nobody knew exactly what caused Morant's face injury, but Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins confirmed before Friday night's matchup that Morant suffered the nasal fracture on a defensive play in the first half of Wednesday's win over the Houston Rockets.
Jenkins also said Morant hurt his nose on a defensive play late in the first half in Houston.

Jenkins added that Morant will have to wear the mask for a few weeks, and will be receiving a custom-made mask that is designed specifically for his face. For now, he is wearing a standard mask.
Taylor Jenkins said that Ja Morant will have to wear the mask for a few weeks. He has a mask that has been custom-made for his face that will be shipped to Los Angeles, hopefully in time for Sunday’s game.

Tonight’s mask is just standard.
While there could be an adjustment period for Morant as he gets used to play with a face mask, the good news is that this injury will not force him to miss any time. The Grizzlies are looking to maintain their hold on the two-seed, as the surging Sacramento Kings remain in pursuit of that spot. It has been another great season for Ja Morant, and the Grizzlies do not want their star point guard to miss any time.
Having defeated the one-seed Denver Nuggets in their last matchup, the Grizzlies are once again looking to make a statement that they are right there at the top of the Western Conference.
