Dillon Brooks Unleashes Incredibly Bold Statement About Himself

In this story:
As Dillon Brooks helps lead Team Canada to big FIBA World Cup wins, the former Memphis Grizzlies forward remains incredibly confident in his ability. Following Canada's big win over Slovenia, Brooks declared himself the best perimeter defender in the entire world.
"I'm the best perimeter defender in this tournament, in the world, in the NBA," Brooks said, via Sportal.gr.
This is certainly not the first time Brooks has unleashed a bold statement about himself, but this one may be the boldest of them all. A great defender, Brooks made an All-Defensive second team last season; however, that best in the world status is typically reserved for a different tier of defenders.
With his All-Defensive second team selection last season being the first of his career, Brooks has a ways to go before breaking into the exclusive tier of defenders who have multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards and All-Defensive first team selections. While these individual honors aren't always a perfect representation of who NBA players feel the toughest defenders are, there usually is a pretty direct correlation between defensive awards and the game's most dominant players on that end.
For Brooks, he has a lot of respect as a defender from his peers, including Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic who recently faced off with him in World Cup action. Following that big win, Brooks declared himself the best defender in the world.
