Speaking with reporters during a recent media availability, Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins Revealed a new role the team wants startling center Steven Adams to play

"We know he can be a playmaker in so many different ways. I want the ball to be in his hands and not just rely solely on screen-and-roll or just dribble handoffs,” Jenkins said. “We’re going to explore some of the other spots on the floor that he can still be able to facilitate and not just be top of the key or at the elbows, but that will still be a big part of what we do because we’re used to it, we’ve got confidence in it, he’s got chemistry with his teammates so that’s definitely a part of it but hopefully we’re just even expanding that."

A very solid playmaker at his position, the team wants to put Adams in more situations where he can utilize that skillset. With shooters like Luke Kennard, Desmond Bane, and others, the Grizzlies have a lot of ways they can get creative with Adams as a playmaker for their offensive weapons.

Memphis will have to find a lot of ways to get creative in the absence of Ja Morant, because they will be without that offensive engine for the first 25 games of the season. One of the ways they can do that is through Steven Adams.
