Marcus Smart Sends Bold Message to Doubters

In this story:
With the last two Defensive Player of the Year winners on their roster, the Memphis Grizzlies have some incredible defensive potential this season. While they have some rotation players who still need to take a step forward on that end, Memphis should have a dominant defensive pairing with Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marcus Smart.
On this defensive pairing, Smart said per Teresa Walker of AP, "As a defensive guy coming on a team who thinks just like you and has guys such as Jaren in the same boat (that) understand the defense and how important it is ... they’ll take you to a new level."
While those who watched Marcus Smart during his time with the Boston Celtics know what he brings to a team, others may be doubting just how much he can help the Grizzlies. To those people, Smart said, "I’m still me. My arm length still the same, wingspan still the same, you know, my hair’s still long, so it’s fine. That’s fine. Let them do the talking. We’ll see at the end of the year and a couple months if they still talking."
This is a big year for the Grizzlies, and the addition of Smart could help them get over that hump and advance further in the postseason than they have during Ja Morant's time in the NBA.
