Victor Wembanyama's Status vs. Grizzlies Revealed

The Memphis Grizzlies are set to face the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, and they will get a look at rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama. The Spurs have released their injury report for this game, and Wembanyama is not listed, meaning he is good to go.

The early favorite to win Rookie of the Year, although Chet Holmgren makes a strong case himself, Wembanyama has met the hype so far through his first 12 games, averaging 19.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG, and 2.2 BPG. With 26 blocks in 12 games, Wembanyama is tied for 3rd in the NBA in that category, and tied for 1st amongst rookie with Holmgren.

There are several ways to quantify Wembanyama play this season, especially amongst rookies, as he ranks 1st in points, 2nd in rebounds, 2nd in steals, 1st in blocks, and 6th in assists amongst all rookies. While this has not led to many wins for a rebuilding Spurs team, there is optimism in San Antonio that they are not far off from being a much more competitive team in the Western Conference than they have been the last few seasons.

This game vs. the Grizzlies will be a battle of the two worst teams in the Western Conference. The Portland Trail Blazers are also 3-9 like the Spurs, but nobody in the West holds a worse record than the Grizzlies' 2-9 mark.
