Trae Young: "I am one of the best in the world at what I do"

Young and the Hawks begin their season on Wednesday against Charlotte

Atlanta has wrapped up its preseason and all eyes are turning to Wednesday night when the Hawks take on the Hornets in the season opener.

Atlanta is going to look to avoid the play-in tournament for the third straight season and one of the reasons they should be hopeful is that they have one of the NBA's best point guards and offensive playmakers on their team.

When speaking with the media today ahead of Wednesday's opener against Charlotte, Trae Young talked about how he is looking to get back to shooting the ball with confidence and how he put a big focus this summer on getting back to shooting three-pointers after making the mid-range shot more of a focus last summer:

"If you look at my percentages every year, they have gotten better and not in points per game or assists per game necessarily but my percentages, except last year. For me, it is just getting back to what I do and shooting the ball with confidence. I was taking more mid-range shots last year and I was really focused on that, that was a big focus of mine but after seeing what CP did and taking his team to the finals and all. This summer it was focusing a lot more on getting back to shooting threes and getting back to myself. I think we'll jump my percentages up and all that and I am not really focused on that. I know I am going to be a lot better than I was last year and that is saying a lot. I am just trying to do that."

When asked if he did any mechanical changes or anything like that, this is how Young responded:

"Nah. I am one of the best in the world at what I do so there is not too much that I want to change on my stuff."

It was a rough shooting season for Young last year. He shot 33.5% from three-point range, his lowest since his rookie season. His shooting percentage as a whole was also his lowest since his rookie season.

I think having a full offseason to work with head coach Quin Snyder is going to do a lot of good for Young this season. Even with his tough shooting percentages last year, he was still able to lead them to the playoffs and he played fantastic in the series against the Boston Celtics. I am expecting a big season from Young as he looks to lead the Hawks to a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference.
