Could Miami Heat Target Kyrie Irving Again In Offseason?

The Miami Heat reportedly offered a deal for Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline before he was sent to the Dallas Mavericks

A day after the Miami Heat lost to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals, the free agency and trade rumor mill began churning.

There has been much speculation about the Heat needing to add another superstar to play alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. The latest is going after Dallas Mavericks guard Kryie Irving.

NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic said the Heat are focused on the expiring contracts of Gabe Vincent and Max Strus but could then start going after star players.

"I think beyond that, they're going to explore seeing the star market out there," Charania said.

The Heat have plenty trade chips, including three first-round draft picks, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro. According to Charania, they went after Irving at this season's trade deadline in February but were unable to make a deal.

"They made a great run this postseason," Charania said. "They do feel they might be one piece away."
