Jeff Teague Puts James Harden Over Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade On All-Time Shooting Guard List

Former guard Jeff Teague often entertains basketball fans with his inside stories during his time in the NBA.

But his latest claims may throw some off guard.

In an interview on The Bradeaux & Will Show, Teague said James Harden was “absolutely” a top five shooting guard of all-time. He then went even further by suggesting Harden was better than Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

“I got him over D-Wade but I’m outta pocket,” Teague said. “D-Wade had Shaq then he had Bron. He ain’t never really been by himself. When he was by himself, the Heat were trash.”

Harden and Wade have constantly been debated as the third best at the position behind Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Wade certainly benefited playing alongside LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Shaquille O’Neal. Harden played with some big names as well, but injuries to star teammates and tougher playoff competition left him overmatched. Teague brought up his battles with the Golden State Warriors, saying, “[Wade] also ain’t run into four Hall of Famers.”

However, the biggest stain on Harden’s career is his underperformances in the postseason, especially in elimination games. In addition, Wade is hailed as a better defender and more consistent teammate. Harden is in the midst of possibly being traded from his third team in three years due to unhappiness.

There are arguments for each, but ultimately the two are still placed among the four best two guards in league history. Wade will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next month, a place Harden will also land at the end of his career.
