Miami Heat Fans Are Already Preparing for Scott Foster in Game 2 Against the Boston Celtics
NBA referee Scott Foster is one of the most scrutinized figures in the basketball world on social media. He’s even more negatively recognized among the Miami Heat fanbase, who have lost 12 of their last 13 games with him on the court. Foster is officiating in the conference finals, with many believing he will swing momentum in favor of the Boston Celtics for Game 2.

Basketball fans seemingly always run to blame referees when their teams lose or don’t play well but in some instances the complaints are justified. Some of the calls in Games 2 and 6 against the New York Knicks were questionable, and the Foster versus Heat speculations trended after the Game 2 loss. Baseless claims are one thing but having a 1-12 record in the last games with the same referee is bound to draw some speculation.
While some believe Foster has a personal dilemma against Miami, others theorize he is working on behalf of the NBA to improve ratings. Foster’s nickname, “The Extender,” suggests he purposely generates more games in a series by hindering the leading teams. Some fans believe he was trying to impede Miami from going up 2-0 in Game 2 or winning in Game 6.
Now, some are alleging the NBA is swaying the series in Boston’s favor to get a Los Angeles Lakers-Celtics Finals. The two are the most accomplished franchises in league history, with a historical rivalry that will bring in viewers. The battle for the first team to 18 banners would be a compelling story for basketball audiences.
Hopefully, a clean game is called in Boston, or fans may continue to allege Foster of unfairness.
