Shannon Sharpe Says Goodbye To Undisputed After Conclusion Of The Miami Heat Finals

Shannon Sharpe is officially leaving the FOX Sports show after nearly a decade.

The NBA season ended after the Miami Heat were defeated by the Denver Nuggets in Game 5. With the end of the NBA Finals, Shannon Sharpe officially had his last episode of FOX Sports’ Undisputed!

“I’m gonna cry in the car but I’m not gonna cry now,” Sharpe said. “The opportunity you gave me to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know. All I ask is when you lay your head on that pillow at night, know I gave you everything I had.”

Many Heat fans were wiping their tears as they watched their team’s miraculous playoff run end. Fans of the FOX Sports show were right there with them, as they had to say goodbye to Sharpe after seven years.

Tensions between him and co-anchor Skip Bayless this past year strained the on-air relationship. But even for their arguments and some of the hostility, it was an emotional moment between the co-stars.

“I want to thank you for never taking a sick day,” Bayless said. “I wanna thank you for preparing as hard as you could every single day for every single topic. I wanna thank you for competing as hard as you did. The greatest compliment I can give you is you were a worthy adversary. I wanna thank you and tell you I love you for everything you have done for me. I’m gonna miss our Diet Dew bets, our LeBron battles, our Cowboy arguments. In the end, you made possible a very special time in my career. I look forward to your next great achievement, but tonight I will toast you with a Diet Mountain Dew.”
