The Miami Heat Pick-And-Roll Tandem Of Jimmy Butler And Cody Zeller Now Known As Blackman And Robin

Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler and Cody Zeller had quite the connection in Saturday's win against Dallas Mavericks

Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler is one of the funniest players in the locker room.

So it leave to him to come up with the perfect nickname for the pick-and-roll tandem of him and center Cody Zeller. They are "Blackman and Robin."

The duo was dynamic in the Heat's victory Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks

"My job is really easy," Butler said. "He rolls hard as I don't know what. And you reward your big for that. And if I'm not open, he's not open, that means somebody is in the paint and our shooters are open. That's just the way the game is played, it's simple. We need to keep that formula going."

Butler finished with 35 points and 12 assists in his first start alongside Zeller, who filled in for the injured Bam Adebayo. Zeller had a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds in his most extensive minutes with Butler.

"Cody was really getting behind the defense, finding all those gaps for those finishes around the rim," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He has a really good knack for that. He's been a starter for a large part of his career. When he plays with guys like Jimmy, he just finds a way to get in those open gaps. Those were big-time relief points for us."
