Tom Brady's Retirement Leaves LeBron James As Most Accomplished Athlete In Team Sports
After 23 years, Tom Brady is finally calling it quits.
Brady announced his retirement Wednesday via social media.
"I'll get to the point: I'm retiring for good," Brady said in a Facebook post. "Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing."
Brady leaves the game after winning seven Super Bowls. His departure leaves former Miami Heat player LeBron James as the most accomplished player in team sports. James won two championships with the Heat and one each with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.
Like Brady, James is often in the discussion as the greatest player in his sport. James is expected to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list sometime in the next couple weeks. He could do it early as next Tuesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The scoring record stood for nearly 40 years.
